Art as a Hobby or become an Artrepreneur?

Producing art is as much as a service than any other vocation, but is it right to throw away years of studying at University in a subject that is completely irrelevant to do something that is enjoyable but takes forever to become known?

I recently graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a degree in Sociology with Psychology but have been finding it difficult to find a job so I picked up an A Level in Accounting since this is where all the jobs seem to be, but still no luck. I work part time as a Technology Consultant and volunteer at Community Action Fareham as a Scheduling Administrator organising travel for those who are less mobile whilst helping out at the Youth Club and IT Club at Portchester Community Centre, and Mentoring Youths at RKdia.

In my spare time I like to paint, and take photos whilst walking my dog around the castle. I would like to become a full time artist but can't afford to do so since noone knows of my work, and therefore cannot make a living.

Being a great artist is not enough in this world, you have to be business minded and a pushy sales man but I just don't have the head for business so where do I start? I have now created my own website, started a few projects that I would like to exhibit, and have a few pieces up for sale but I still don't know who I'm selling to. I'm just hoping someone will come along with similar taste to mine who will show some sort of interest in my work.
